Problem 2: Project Proposal

Questions: At what age does our innocence disappear?
Is the money worth losing your child?
How much money can buy self worth?

For this project I would like to research child trafficking in Cambodia; my focus would be on promises and deception.  Why I want to focus on promise and deception is because they play a major role in child trafficking.  Children often get promised by a person if they slept with them, that person would marry them so they can live a better life in America.  But most of the time, people lie to the children to get free sex.  Cambodia has a huge child trafficking problem, even more so than Thailand and India.  Some children are sold by their own parents, others are lured by what they think are proper, legitimate job offers. Pimps are reported to imprison young children who are virgins, not putting them to work until they have been presented to a series of bidders such as high-ranking military officers, politicians, businessmen and foreign tourists.  As a Cambodian, I have somewhat of a personal connection to this, by watching my own relatives hop over to Cambodia and either get raped, sold off, or convict the crime themselves.  I also consider child trafficking not only as child prostitution, but selling children to their own family members or other people who live in America in order for them to also live in America; I do consider this transition trafficking.  My relatives have done this numerous times and even sold off their own child to random individuals who live in America.  My brother and I have almost had this experience, without the careful watch of our mother, we would have been married off to much older people in Cambodia under my Uncle's control.
This will be on a large scale oil painting.  As for my second element or material, I have not yet decided.
