Thursday Night-Casey Curran

I took away many things from Casey's lecture that could help me in my project. One of the first things he mentioned that I found useful was researching gestures of the body when thinking about the concept and all the specific elements or detail you can incorporate in a small piece or performance.  Another thing that caught my attention was when he also mentioned that the actors played themselves in the performance.  I think that is a big part about my piece; I want to be able to depict that this garment reflects me as a person, but without revealing too much; intensely private, but public.  Casey also said that each piece has a specific history behind it and the materials used are specific to that piece.  Although I know my own story, I need more information about certain aspects of my concept because then I'll gain a better understanding of what I'm actually creating and what the meanings are behind each element.  Another major thing I took away was how the object interacts with its environment because it will help significantly knowing how the idea impacts others around you, which is important knowing that your idea affects each person in a different way.  A personal connection with the audience is also important, I want to make those who are in a similar scenario to feel a personal connection with my piece.
