Seattle's First Thursday

At the Gallery4Culture, it displayed Robin Crooktall's work.  Robin's work was very interesting because everything the artist made was out of cardboard, including the animals in the photographs.  Most of Robin's pieces have a dark concept behind it and as if the relationship between the animal and the environment are emphasized.  Specifically "Hippochondriac", destruction of homes or buildings are happening in the surrounding while a Hippo is sizing up against and trying to outdo the destructive machine, like it's protecting its environment.

In the Punch Gallery, it displayed Jen Erickson's work.  This artist has a varied contrast of extreme darks, lights, mediums and has abstract lines on top that barely form a shape.  Abstract is not my favorite, but this artist has earn my respect by using and blending the variety of shades, the fact that it was all in graphite, and how the artist utilized the lines worked together as one very well.  Specifically "Dark Thaw" stood out to me the most from the amount of contrast in the work itself.
